voice is dead, long live voice →
yes. can’t wait for the day when voice communication is as smart as a web app. real control over voice messages, and the real killer app, presence for phone conversations.

Why does typekit have to make the process so complicated? All I really wanted to do was say :  @font-face{ font-family: “foo”; src=”typekit.com/foo” } but they have to add in some js magic where it “automatically” publishes to my site. No. I don’t want any magic. Why can’t this service work like the google ajax library apis? Just drop in the...

this is pretty crazy. I’m fascinated that there is already a precedent for this: you don’t own the rights to your cells. Nevermind copyright and fair use, this is even weirder.

totally amazing. I’m always impressed when I have a hard time figuring out how a 16th century piece of technology works. And… this was the precursor to the world’s first gps device, the sextant…..

I guess I have a thing for demonstrations of the scale of the universe. Now I know what a yottameter is (10^24 meters) and what a yoctometer is (10^-24 meters) (who gets to name all these measurements? I want that job.)

back to the php ghetto
I’ve fully realized the depth of stigma against people who say they do php. That reason alone is enough to want to make me move on, never mind that, it is, compared to ruby or python, kind of a clumsy language. But in the end, who cares? After spending four intense days craming my head full of rails, and realizing even more fully the benefits of a well thought out language, one that values...

SHDH and crisis camp haiti
Went at the SHDH after the hackerdojo job fair. It was an interesting time. Met some cool people and learned a lot of cool stuff. This was my first time to superhappydevhouse, and it was pretty cool. This one was being held in conjunction with the Crisis Camp Haiti, and effort to get voluteer work done on tech projects to help with providing data, maps and it assistance to people on the ground n...

Marakana Rails class
Cool. Just found out today that I’ll be able to attend the Marakana Rails class next week in San Francisco. I guess I would say that their pricing is… “corporate” or “working professional” of which I am neither, but thanks to Sarah Allen, I was offered a scholarship from Marakana, without which I definitely couldn’t afford to go. It sounds cool, and I...
